An Impending Journey-Part 1

It was the 14th of April when we,the senior debate team of SMK Convent Bukit Nanas,were up against Beaconhouse Malaysia.Having never heard of such school(no offence, beacons..),we had no idea what to expect.Were they going to be a lousy team or one which would drop a bomb on us?The motion-"This house believes that killing for sport is morally wrong''.You can never refute the motion..obviously killing for one's own pleasure is a sin!How would the opposition argue?It seeemed like a one-sided debate!Then came Mr.Latif a.k.a. the macha gang's president's crush!He was the one who came up with motions and he changed our view on the entire debate.He said he preferred to be opposition as they could argue better..

Mr.Latif:I'd prefer to be opposition.They have better arguments.
Us machas:How can Mr.Latif???Impoosible one!!!
Mr.Latif:Listen first,girls..and he explained about vegetarianism.Vegetarianism??What the prawns does that have to do with anything??And with just one meeting with our coach,we saw the other side to the debate.Oppostion was stronger.We got government.We were doomed.
The day of the debate:Many people approached us,knowing that we were a team to look out for.We were KL Wira champions for 2 years in a row.We were HELP debate runner-ups for 2 years in a row(and we lost to DJ each year..huhu..)
Some of the people we met:This one fella who claims he's an Add Math whiz.Wanted to teach our school.Came stalking us before and after debate.
:One psycho lady who just entered our macha gang meeting and stood there
:SMK Kepong(spies)
RMC(spies)
.....the list goes on.
When we found out that the debate was in the auditorium,I immediately called Daddy and told him to rush there.I needed confidence and Daddy has never failed to inject with a little boost of what I need.He came(intimidated Beaconhouse..)and...."the motion stands.The government wins the debate.''
WOOOOHHHOOOOO!!!oh yea!BOOM BABY!I was flying!My heart swelled for all the efforts the team put in the library,skipping classes,making fun and gossiping about others,attempting to steal library books..oh well..that was round 1..and truthfully..it was my first time getting best speaker for a debate as I seldom did debate last year so I was over the moon.But debate is all about the team..You dont see the alphabet ''I'' in the word team or debate,do you?Round two on next post.Signing out.
