Motion:This house would legalise voluntary active euthanasia
Man should have the freedom of choice,be it to do something that benefits him eventhough it contradicts with social perception and acceptance.In the case of choosing to end your life because of an illness you are facing,it is your choice to choose euthanasia as a solution because in the end of the day,you are the one facing God and you will answer him for your own actions.
That was the line of argument we went with.Given less than 24 hours to prepare the debate,we were cramming and crashing in my house,laptops on,Melissa helped(thanks Mel..)and we were on the right track.Room SR10..the room to host our match.We were confident.We could do it.RMC,SMK Kepong and Sabah schools came to witness the event.We did the best we can
Judge:The decision is unanimous.Both teams were equally strong.I have never seen a debate standard this high.But the win goes to the opposition.
I just stared at Petra.I remember Darsh and Maizura sitting upright.The emotions on President of Macha gang and Machi gang changed.We lost.
Us machas:Can you please tell us our flaws so that we can improve ourselves?
Judge:There is nothing wrong with you.You are an amazing team.You were excellent!
Macha Gang President:BUT WE STILL LOST..!
Judge:By one or two marks only..
Us machas:It makes a difference on whether we qualify to the next round,be it even 1/2 marks!
Judge:.........*nothing to say*
Like true champions we lifted our chins,congratulated the opponents,and walked with pride.I was happy in a way because the team seems more committed now.Maizura and Petra seems to be bursting over with spirit.And I got best speaker again so I was on par with the moon,not over it because we lost.Up to this very day,I still cannot accept that we have lost.We were the better team..sure it sounds whiney and ''gedik'' and very ass-unta-rish(refer to assunta) but it was the cold hard truth to be spelled out in five words.We were the better team.
Here is some proof telling you why..
a)People came to congratulate us before they even announced the winner
b)RMC predicted we would win when the judges went to decide the winner
c)The judge had no reason to explain our loss
d)OUR OPPONENTS were soooo confident that WE WERE GOING TO WIN.
e)They actually cried when they won
f)Darsh heard their teacher telling them that we were the better team.(how unsupportive of her but how true..)
g)Their seniors came and told us we were better(need I say more..??)
Sounds like I'm bragging??Swallow it.I dont care what you may think.You may think I'm a snob for listing this and not wanting to accept the fact that we have lost but let me point out how wrong you are.Number one-I'm a snob if you think I am but bear in mind that you didnt watch us debate.So I'm just pointing out the A-Z of what happened.Number two-I have accepted the fact that we lost even if I didnt want to.As a consolation to our misfortune, premiere schools which are the ''kings of debates'' lost too.VI lost.DJ lost(mind you..DJ has been winning HELP debate for 5 years in a row)RMC lost.St.Michael's lost.Penang Free School lost.Was it the rise of the underdogs??
Anyways,right after that,we hit Subway.Downing Sprite and munching burgers pretending we were drunk,we still had fun because we got to know each other better.We were all machas now.And i realised that Maizura isnt so innocent after all.We both were drooling over this Bono looalike at Subway.What am I trying to say?We lost.Yes we did even when we were the true winners.But..so what..we're still rock stars!(<<<
